Ontic Completes Acquisition of GE Aviation Systems Legacy Fuel Measurement Business

Ontic, the aerospace industry’s leading performance-driven producer of licensed and/or acquired OEM legacy products and systems, has completed the acquisition of GE Aviation Systems legacy fuel measurement business. Ontic is a wholly owned subsidiary of BBA Aviation plc, the leading global aviation support and aftermarket services provider.

Located primarily in Bishop’s Cleeve near Cheltenham, England, the acquired business assembles, sells and overhauls fuel gauging and measurement systems to leading defense and commercial airframe OEMs, airlines, and other aircraft operators. Its products serve a large and growing installed base of over 6,200 active aircraft. Key platforms include A319/320, B777, Eurofighter Typhoon, AW101 and Hawk2. The business generated revenues of approximately $43m in 2010.

The current UK manufacturing and MRO location, along with additional MRO facilities in the US and Singapore, will be transferred to nearby BBA Aviation sites and will operate under the BBA Aviation Ontic brand following a phased integration process by Ontic UK Limited.

Peg Billson, President of BBA Aviation’s, Ontic, stated that “The acquisition enhances Ontic’s exposure to the commercial aviation market on large platforms with a significant installed base, high utilization rates and extended in-service lives. It also expands our non-US product portfolio and adds third generation electronics expertise, an increasingly important market.”
