Ontic Growth In Legacy Avionics And Electronics Sets The Stage For Farnborough
Ontic, the aerospace industry’s leading provider of OEM licensed and acquired legacy products, has seen its P&L revenue for electronics and avionics grow from 3% to 30% over the past two years. Driven by OEM needs for ongoing product support of mature products and the 2011 acquisition of the GE Aviation Fuel Measurement business, Ontic is now a fully capable OEM in support of 2nd and 3rd generation electronics and avionics.
Ontic takes this electronics / avionics core competency into the Farnborough Air Show where it will be the focus of many of the meetings held with OEMs and customers over the next 5 days.
Peg Billson, Ontic’s President said, “Ontic has identified the increasing need for the support of legacy electronics and therefore has overtly focused on developing this capability which now accounts for a third of our revenue. OEM’s can now confidently partner with us to solve their legacy electronics needs just as they have for decades for mechanical products. ”
In support of the global OEM base, Ontic has established this electronics and avionics capability in two locations: Cheltenham, UK and Chatsworth, California. The Cheltenham facility is fully operational, certified and serving production and aftermarket customers (including airlines, Airbus, Boeing & Eurofighter) on electronic fuel measurement systems. This facility has an additional 20,000 sq. ft. immediately available for further electronics and avionics support. The Chatsworth facility added 5000 sq. ft. of dedicated clean room earlier this year and, due to customer and product demands is fitting out an additional 5000 sq. ft.
Today, Ontic’s extensive mature and legacy products portfolio is managed and supported globally from four center-of-excellence facilities based in Chatsworth, California, Cheltenham and Slough, UK, Houston, Texas, and another Ontic location opening in Singapore in 2012.
